Though the Taliban is no longer in  power, a lot of repression and problems still occur when women try to obtain education. When Afghanistan girls attend their secret schools they run the risk of being beheaded, gassed, and shot in the head by extremists who still firmly believe in the Sharia law. Despite the threat of violence, brave Afghanistan teachers and students still attend. In April, also in the Takhar province, more than 170 women and girls were hospitalized for drinking water that was poisoned by extremists.
