“Zoo
staff butchered Marius and fed part of his body to their lions, in front
of a public audience, including children.”
Animals are naturally wild and free animals. They can be physically kept, taken care of, and loved but it’s spiritually impossible to own an
animal of the Earth. We keep them against their will with full awareness that
they're unhappy in circuses and zoos. We make them do tricks and flips with
whips, yet claiming we’re saving a species. Endangered and exotic animals should be happy we are giving them a
safe facility away from their cubs and natural habitat(sarcasm). Furthermore, their
new habitat has fake grass, bamboo, and
genetically modified animal feed. Yes, we
we are “bringing people and animals together (animalrights.about)”,
but behind a plexy galss prison full of old poop. By going to zoos, people support
and provoke the captivity and slavery of
animals: “a visit to a zoo is a wholesome family activity… animals in captivity
suffer from stress, boredom and confinement… get sold or traded.” What about the surplus? An american zoo can’t
possibly hold all the characters in that Lion King movie. So Mufasa, Scar, and
Simba get sold when they can no longer perform or if the zoo no longer has room
for them. According to animalright.about.com, extra animals are either “killed outright”, sold to other zoos, or
circuses for more torture. The best solution is to just ban zoos. Yeah we could improve the facility
with more tax dollars and hire nicer animal trainers, but the wild is where
animals truly belong. So the next time you go to a zoo think of 2
year old Marius the Giraffe who was killed due to overpopulation and Ned the elephant
who was beaten by his trainer.
